Renaissant Finishes began its journey in 2007 when Lamar Wilde decided to combine his degree and experience in Business Administration with his desire to create beautiful wall finishes in Lethbridge and the surrounding area. His previous experience with a local drywall company after high school, gave direction to that dream. Over time Renaissant finishes began to expand into installing Sisal wall coverings. The natural, durable and long lasting qualities of Sisal has made it an exciting addition. In 2015 Lamar attended training in the United States on the application of Venetian Plasters, creating a new dimension. At Renaissant Finishes we have a passion for helping you love your space.

What is Venetian Plaster?
The History
Lime plasters were used by ancient civilizations with a plaster similar to marmorino dating back to ancient Roman civilization. Evidence of it can be seen in the villas of Pompei and in various Roman structures. Vitruvio's "de Architectura", that details a 1st Century B.C. history of Rome makes mention of it. Marmoino again came into fashion in the 16th century during the Renaissance in Venice through the influence of Andrea Palladio. During the 17th Century the use of other plasters flourished in palaces and villas. In the 1960's lime plasters began to see a rise of popularity again in Italy. In more recent times Venetian Plasters have been gaining popularity in Canada and the United States due to its beautiful finishes, durability, versatility, and health benefits.
WHY PLASTER?
- BreathableThis is a new way of thinking about water resistance. Whereas products typically are designed to keep water out, lime plasters perform very well in wet climates (such as in Europe) by simply allowing any water that is absorbed into the plaster to quickly evaporate and exit the structure. This makes lime plasters the only plasters that can tolerate rising damp and canal-side applications that would delaminate acrylics and Portland cement plasters.
- Naturally mold-resistant:Due to its high pH (between 11 and 12), lime is a natural biocide.
- Time tested:From early Egyptian, Greek, and Roman efforts with lime through the golden age of lime in the 1800's, lime plasters have served as durable, beautiful finishes all over the world.
- Natural and Green:Lime plasters are sustainable materials produced without plastics and harmful chemicals in keeping with traditional plastering methods.
- Durable and Resilient
Sisal Wall Coverings
Sisal is a non-flammable, natural, and durable wall finish. It is made from 100% natural sisal fibers which are extracted from henequen and sisalana agave plants, making it a natural solution that is also rapidly renewable. Sisal is resistant to scuffs and dirt. It does not tear or rip when furniture or other objects get pushed into or pulled along the wall. It is a non-static surface, thus it does not attract dirt or dust. Another highlight of Sisal its great ability to absorb noise. It comes in a wide range of colors to suit any interior. Sisal is the perfect solution for corridor walls, businesses, gymnasiums and other areas where durability and the reduction of noise reverberation is vital.
